Monogram Frames

Sample from Monogram FramesIf you have Generations Plus, you also have the monograms module. Did you know that monogram frames (or backgrounds, as Generations calls them) share the same format as Building Blocks? They both have a file extension of  .MNG. Put the files in your Building Blocks folder and they are accessible via the Building Block bar. Add them to your Super Tech\Generations\BackGround and you can access them in Insert Monogram.

This collection of 20 monogram frames, while available in multi-format, is especially useful to Generations users because they are scalable and modifiable. Quite a few are digitized as appliques which makes them even more flexible. For example, monogramming on towels can be tricky because delicate design areas can sink into the loops—and the loops can come up through the stitching. Adding fabric in the frame will solve those problems. Furthermore, since appliques are an area stitch type, you can easily convert them into embossing areas. Embossing on towels is really sort of a trapunto effect—a mesh of stitching holds down the towel in the “negative” area allowing the unstitched “positive” are to pop up through. This technique was demonstrated during the monthly Generations Workshop Webinar for January 2011 and is also covered in Unit 8: Specialty Techniques. You can can watch a quick video of it here… Find out more about Building Blocks for Generations. See all 20 designs.
