This collection of ten adorable cuddly stuffed toy friends has been a best seller since its release. Sized for 4″ hoops, these designs are just too cute to pass up!
As with other designs listed on this site, this collection was digitized in Generations. That means as a Generations user, you have ultimate control. Sewing on something a little less stable? Change the compensation! Want a little heavier coveraage? Adjust the density. It’s very rare for you to find designs in you native format—especially designs created by a professional digitizer! This collection started out as a 10-design group. When I asked my friend Leanne Church, who handles Generations training for Echidna in Brisbane, Australia whether she preferred the wing detail as bean stitch or chain stitch, her answer was “Why don’t you do both?” So I did! Digitizing Red Work
Since embroidering red work style designs is so easy, you might assume the same is true of digitizing them. Nothing could be further from the truth! Read the rest of this entry »

If you have Generations Plus, you also have the monograms module. Did you know that monogram frames (or backgrounds, as Generations calls them) share the same format as Building Blocks? They both have a file extension of .MNG. Put the files in your Building Blocks folder and they are accessible via the Building Block bar. Add them to your Super Tech\Generations\BackGround and you can access them in Insert Monogram. Read the rest of this entry »

Swatch charts, which are discussed in Anatomy of a Design, are an invaluable aid to any digitizer. They’re great for determining suitable densities, verifying pattern fills, and testing motifs. Now you can watch how to set one up in a series of 3 HD videos.
Although I demo the technique in Generations, you should be able to apply the steps in most any digitizing program.
- Video 1 – Creating a basic master swatch template
- Video 2 – Adding labels
- Video 3 – Setting stitch attributes

At long last, the “really good stuff.” According to some of my proofers, this unit is the best one yet!
You’ll notice a shift in this unit from previous ones. Except for photo stitch, we’ve covered pretty much everything you need to know about using the tools in Generations. You may not feel entirely fluent and that comes with practice. Also, there are more ways to use the tools than what we’ve covered. As you find a need to do something, you will figure out a tool or tools that can do it. Read the rest of this entry »

When I query embroiderers about digitizing, most of them respond that they really don’t want to get bogged down in the whole traditional process. What they really want is the freedom to express themselves and create their own designs for a particular project or to add some elements to purchased designs to put their own signature spin on it and make it their own. They want a program that is easy to use that will quickly turn an image into a design yet powerful enough to permit a range of modifications–from simple stitch attribute changes to actual manipulation of nodes on stitch objects. Fortunately, Generations™ is not just a digitizing automaton. It has tools to modify auto’d designs and you can create all or part of your design from scratch—and so far we’ve only scratched the surface on that aspect. In this unit we’ll dig deeper into those features that will truly allow you to free your inner creativity. Read the rest of this entry »
